The Midnight Oil.

Oh god oh god. You know sometimes you’re doing some stuff and you just can’t stop doing it unless it’s done? Yah, guess what. The time is 12.53am. I’m in Singapore Polytechnic, in front of the laptop, laying out the fashion spread. It’s freaking midnight and I’m stillin school!! omg omg? Not that I’m complainin’ but once I’m stuck into doing something, it’s just damn freaken hard to stop?

It’s like some sort of drugs that keep me going on and on. Urgh. And as much as I loveeee to show you the fantabulously cute spread I did up so far, I’ve to keep you guys in suspense, till 12th December. Hah. All I can show you guys is pretty much a blurred up version of the lead-in page. Muahahaha. Oops!

Argh. Okae, I should just continue tomorrow. Haha. But dang! Now the problem is getting out of school without torchlight plus all lights in the school is off. What have I got myself into now. *faints* Workaholic me.

Weekend comes.

November 18, 2007

dsc01037ed.jpg

As much as I feel like writing a proper entry, fatigue takes over and I still feel the need to spend my weekend just slowing everything down, giving myself a break.

The past few days had been hectic, almost hell-ish. Some stuff that wasn’t that pleasant, and all that jazz. Nonetheless, a good meetup with my bunch of media comm friends the Friday night made up for it. It’s funny how I’m much closer to them, and they are pretty much glued together as a class. We talked over a cuppa teh peng, caught up with each others’ life (since they’re having their internship now) and just enjoy each others’ company.

The Saturday evening was spent with a group of bloggers from all walks of life. The Makan Kakis had an awesome bbq cookout with food that’s fantabulous, we were all darn full at the end of the day. It was good food mixed with great company. Somehow, it’s like, food glues people together, well apart from smoking too. Haha.

Big thanks to Hana, Syaz and Aidil for making this happen!
And to all the bloggers I met last night, cheers to more makan kakis event! Yay!

Animate

November 12, 2007

animate : ˈænəmɪt.

To impart motion or activity to.
To make, design, or produce so as to create the illusion of motion.

F*ck, can it ever get this realistic. Just for that few seconds of transforming equates to hours and days and weeks and months of modeling, animating, rendering then post-producing.

And tell me I suck at animating.

No breaks. Just deadlines.

Like Secondary 4 is to O Levels and J2 is to A Levels,
Hakim is to FYP.

And though he wishes that life would be carefree and all things happy, reality is that life is harsh on you. So they said, “Time waits for no man”.

He therefore notify any avid readers (which prolly include members in his group who prolly keep watchful eyes *jeng jeng jeng*) that he’ll not be writing entries as frequent as when he was in ITP or during holidays. He will hopefully master the art of speaking Chinese so as to keep up with the society and contribute in any means possible in his areas of specialisation. For he live in a multi-racial country, regardless of language or religion, achieving happiness, prosperity and progress for each and everyone.

Power Rangers, Adult-ified.

October 17, 2007

School’s been a mix of good and bad times. The 8am lessons are killing me softly. While at the same time, I do look forward to coming to school, people-watching ;) and being around friends. The year ones in our school looked at us like we’re aliens. Just cuz they didn’t see us for the first half of the year, and I get the feeling they’re assuming that we’re some newcomers.

So anyways, we were doing our FYP and the members brought along their Power Ranger figurines dating back to 500A.D. Haha. The Power Rangers craze that hit amongst us happened like eons ago??? They brought it cuz we use them as references to the different poses.

Put in Pink Ranger and Black Ranger, plus a few late teens.. and you will get..
word of advice; if you’re a pure and innocent conservative homosapien, refrain from reading the rest of the entry..

Monday Makes Me Mad.

October 15, 2007

Hello hello hello. Argh.

Sunday ended and then comes Monday. Monday blues and all things associated with Monday. Mundane Monday. Ok, you get it, it’s Monday. I can’t stress any further on why Monday is an unofficial day in which homosapiens turned pissy and angsty. It’s just this hidden explanation behind all this thing. Pity Monday for being the first day of the week.

start_mc.start_btn.onRelease = function()
{
 start_mc._visible = false;
 lecturer_mc.onEnterFrame = lectureStart;
}

Okay, I’m bull-crapping, as you can see. I’m seated on the first row for advanced flash’s practical lesson. A class of eighteen students; though it seems like only ten are present. The people behind me are talking about their weekends Hari Raya-ing. The lecturer in front of me seems to be talking to himself, judging from the response he gets from his students. He tries to crack a joke, and he gets silence in return.

My eyes are droopy. I crapped three times in a span of twelve hours, literally crapped. It feels ouh so good. You know, the satisfying feeling one will get after knowing that all those junks one consumed finally made it past the intestines, and down the ah-nooz, to the toilet bowl, into the sewerage and eventually becoming NeWater. Ahh, the richness of NeWater.

The lecturer is playing some burping sound over and over again. He imports the sound to the library, did a linkage, and exports for ActionScript.

var music:Sound = new Sound();
music.onLoad = function(success:Boolean){
if (success) {
this.start();
}
};
music.loadSound(“play_me_a_boring_song.mp3″);

He then continues talking about loading sound objects from an external source into flash applications.

That’s just half my Monday and that’s how the cookie crumbles.

function countDown():Void{
 counter++;
 if(counter >= 15){
  time–;
  timer_txt.text = “Time: ” + time;
  counter = 0;
  if(time <= 0){
  gameOverGawdDamnIt();
  }
 }
}

How’s your Monday?

Of Crashing Lectures.

October 6, 2007

I sort of crashed media comm’s lecture cuz I was in school settling some stuff. It’s odd to say that I miss lecture, but yeah, I do. Missed those times when there’s mass lecture, and like 70 plus students got together kinda thing. Now, lecture is held in classrooms than in lecture theater and sometimes it’s just too silent.

Media communication classes are much more fun and interesting as compared to lectures I’m having. The lecturers somehow are able to connect to the students, and they do get along very well. The student-lecturer interaction is like different; students religiously take notes (well most of cuz), and they crack jokes at appropriate times, without looking as if disrespecting the lecturer. Maybe it’s a smaller batch for them. Maybe it’s just Dip. in Media Comms students. Or maybe it’s just the module.

I sat in for some module talking about the new media tech stuff. And I can’t believe instead of preparing to read the newspaper that I’ve bought, I actually paid attention to the lecture. The module seem pretty boring, but the way the slides are put together with various media like video and referencing to websites, and the way the lecturer conducted the lecture, I’m amazed at myself for sitting in for that two hours. And like, I kinda finally knew those computer lingoes like Web 2.0, permalinks, feeds and diggs. Read the rest of this entry »

Yes, ZOMG zomg. It’s back to school for me. Like a semester of internship (in which happy Hak did great *smiles* :) ), and I’m finally alighting at Dover again every morning. Hah, and yes, my classes starts at like 8 am most of the days, and I’m still trying to get used to reaching on time.

The thing is, in the morning in my house, there’s like a certain timeslot in which the family members have for usage of the bathroom. And mine have to be cramped in between both my young and elder sis. So, knowing how long girls take to shower, I’ll be late, of course. Haha. And it’s just that we only used one bathroom, cuz it’s the only one with the heater.

So anyway, yes. School. SCHOOL. It creeps me out abit ’cause it’s the last semester, and that we’re doing our final year project, the most important, the highest weightage of marks throughout our three years-long course of study. Screams, “ARrgh”.

It’s nice to be finally seeing familiar faces, though I do miss my fabulous colleagues during my internship. Read the rest of this entry »

Recollection of the Past.

September 7, 2007

848858_38504122_op.jpgEver just sit down, and recollect the past?

The first day of secondary school. The start of something new. Opening up a new chapter of your life. The time when puberty sets in, and they’d say it’s better than primary school. The very first day of school, when you would be loitering around at the canteen, looking at seniors being awfully joyful that the term starts again yet you’re like an alien stranded on a place where you know noone, well except for a few familiar faces who used to be in your primary school.

And very soon, the strangers around you became your friends. Some of them, are ones that will be there for you and more often, ones that befriend you when they need you. You spent 4 years of your life, meeting them almost everyday. You joined some co-curricular activities, alongside your studies. You met friends from different walks of life. Friends that influenced you to be who you would be.

You expressed your interest in something relatively new to you. And from there, a passion ignited in you; playing music. The trumpet became your partner. It trusted you in the first ever solo that you’ve played, and went through the subsequent solos knowing you can do it. It helped you boost your confidence, and made you somewhat a better man. You appreciated music, and went on trying to conduct the band, which led you to holding the baton for another few months. The music changes with the swings of your baton, and you began to feel the music, knowing each tells a story.

The teachers did not have faith in you judging from the time you spent down in the band room. They advised you to drop a few modules, and asked you to focus more on your studies, instead of immersing yourself in music. You’ve made up your mind. And chose the path frowned upon by the school, due to its aim of having full percentile of graduates entering the high and mighty junior college. Read the rest of this entry »

Oopsie Daisy.

September 4, 2007

Hmm all along I’ve been talking about Oops! Magazine, the inaugural issue of SP’s lifestyle magazine and many may not have seen it. Despite all the shaytes we went through, the magazine eventually got printed, and has been receiving great response. So, if you’re curious to know, take a peep. The second issue coming up a few months’ time promises to pack more punch and, more pages. Haha.
