The World Out There.

Well, today, was like a change from the usual routine job that I have to attend to every weekdays (and tell me, how am I gonna face the workforce). It wasn’t something of the usual out to town for a walk just because town is the only place to be kinda thing. I ended my day today, saying to myself, “Hey, there’s more to life than just eating, sleeping and watching television”.

My day started with a meet up with 4 other web loggers of mine (well, maybe three plus a newfound friend). Eddy, Sha, Faddy and anonymous. Since Eddy’s workplace was having some kind of open house, we decided to drop by for a little tour around and to pass him his belated birthday presz.
I’ve got to admit, I was being such a suagu/ jakun/ mountain tortoise when he brought us around sharing with us a lil bit of history here and there. Cool or what? It wasn’t the first time I met Eddy up as he was the one who provided us with tix to the then Singapore Idol. And it certainly wasn’t the first time I met Faddy, cuz she’s my best girl (space) friend. I bumped onto Unc Sha once but we were going separate ways, so didn’t really had a chance to talk to him, and anonymous, haha, a newfound friend whose life’s so exciting can. Haha. I was all ears when she shared with us her stories.

All in all, we spent time just sitting around (okay, I just refuse to use the term “chilling out”) at their pantry area, as if it’s our own home. Fun la. It was great getting to know more friends. And knowing more about them. Unfortunately Eddy got activated for calls since he’s still working but nevertheless, he was a good host, filling us up with details and all. Thanks bro, it was great!
So we parted ways, with me and Fad heading to Substation with Shafiah along. Initially, all I knew was that I’m paying to watch a play, and I didn’t really read up on the play itself, all I know was that the two girls went to support their ex-schoolmate who directed the play. The play was great, alright. I’m not much of a critic or a reviewer but all I can say was, it deals with issues around us, in a very profound and surreal way. Kudos to him to be able to direct such a play. He’s my age, mind you.
Other than that, got to see a few familiar playwrights and talent. And I was shocked to meet Siti over there too. Just to refresh, I knew Siti from Clarisse and Jask and the first time that we knew each other was like at Zouk? Haha, so I was kinda surprised that she’s really into all this too. Cool. I mean like, my friends would probably be saying something like “Erh, play? I’ll catch a movie instead” and whatnot. So anyway she was with her friend who appears to be a playwright in the making. And we kinda like just converse.
Wow, I actually got to know two new people today. And like, each of them come from different walks of life. A promising playwright, a passionate runner, a jovial traveler, a caring professional and an aspiring lady sticking to her belief. All that and more. There’s really more to life than meets the eye.
And I just realised truly, that there’s just six degrees of separation between us.

It was an eye opener, to say the least. I’ve been oblivious to the surrounding, not knowing about other profession and all. And today was like, I see that each individuals are pursuing their dreams in their various aspects of profession, following their passion.
Let’s just talk about the society in general. They only recognise success by the sum of dollars a person is making, and that some passions wouldn’t just be glorified. Till now, my parents does not fully understand the idea of me being attached as a graphic designer. I showed them the latest issue of the mag where I was helping out with, and they was like, oh ok. Come on, my dad even commented, “Huh? You study bla3, and you designed a comic? Laying out magazine?”. Like thanks for the support there. It might be a small puny little thing for others, but it meant the world to me having my name printed in the magazine, seeing my designs up at a store, and getting shortlisted for a competition. I’m still taking baby steps. At least a praise would be nice, rather than “What? See dear, he’s working to design bikini and looking at girls”.
It’s like what my friend is feeling too. She wanted to opt for her passion, but her parents objected strongly to it, thinking that firstly, it doesn’t pump you a fixed income every month if you venture deep into it, and second, you might be straying yourself off the right path. It’s just the traditional thinking of every parents I guess, to get a job in the business industry, earning a secured income.
Sometimes it’s heartbreaking, but sometimes, it just wears off. It’s as if you’re just numb to their objection, being in denial that they are just fooling around.

I just can’t say enough. There’s lots more to talk about. And pardon for the disappearing act over the weekdays. I wanted to write up an entry, but my mind wasn’t just functioning well. I can’t possibly be blogging about work-related issue that bores people. And even if I want to write about something interesting, I will get stuck halfway and just abandon the idea of posting an entry up. In fact, I saved the entries that I did halfway.
I just felt like, urgh, my life’s becoming so pooped. I can’t find a better way to explain, but I feel that, why would I write up to the public eyes something which I myself find it boring. And the financial dry spell issue made things worst. It ruined my mood to do anything.
Partly cause of work, I find myself hitting the sack just a few minutes to an hour after switching the computer on. Normally, I would be with my darling baby just cause, I’m used to it. And by darling baby, I meant my laptop. The one thing that I hate to lend to others. I am not an arrogant snobbish selfish bastard, but some possessions are strictly personal, you just don’t have the heart to part with them. My works are inside. I think my life depends on it. Its just like saying, a painter without the paints, a singer without the voice and a chef without his sets of precious knives.
And apart from that, the craps that I got myself into. But I think, in the end, it’s the satisfaction of seeing your works. Yes, crappy and chaotic now, but eventually, we will take a step back and give a pat on our shoulder. Hopefully.
Passion and Expectation.
Success and Downfall.
Conventional and Uniquity.
We live in a sunny island set in the sea, with pretty flowers bloom for you and me.
Together we march forward, intelligible in searching for knowledge.
Free your mind.
